A homegrown restaurant chain is showing its care for the community amid typhoon “Uwan” by doing what it does best: providing comfort through food.

Mama Lou’s, known for its pizza, pasta, and other Italian specialties, has been giving away free bowls of soup to visitors seeking shelter and a safe space amid the uncertainty brought about by the calamity.

It started handing out servings of Zuppa di Maccheroni in all of its branches last Saturday, November 8, with the belief that “in moments like this, comfort, warmth, and human connection matter more than anything.”

“A warm bowl, a warm moment, a warm reminder that you are not alone,” the restaurant said on its social media pages.

Aside from visitors, Mama Lou’s has also been giving free soup to delivery riders and other people working despite the typhoon.

The restaurant chain said it is their way of thanking them “for keeping our community safe.”

Mama Lou’s first opened as a small, family-owned restaurant in BF Homes, Parañaque in 2010.

Since then, it has expanded to different parts of Metro Manila, Pampanga, Bataan, Cavite, and Batangas, among others, with over 20 branches in the country.
